Blind plate
Blind plate is also called flange cover or blank flange. It is the flange on whose center there is not a hole. It is used for blocking the pipe opening.
According to the appearance, blind plates are generally classified into slip-on blind plate, spectacle blind, gate plate and backing ring (the gate flange and the backing ring are connected through the plating hole). The blind plate plays the role of isolation and cutting. Its function is the same as that of the end seal, pipe cap and welding plug. Featuring good seal property, it is used as a reliable isolation method for systems requiring complete isolation. The slip-on blind plate is a solid circle with a handle. It is usually used for systems under the isolated condition. However, the spectacle blind is like the figure 8. One end is a blind plate. The other end is a restrictor ring. With a diameter the same as that of the pipe, it does not play the throttling role. The spectacle blind can be used conveniently. For the purpose of isolation, the blind plate end is used. For the purpose of normal operation, the restrictor ring end is used. It can also be used for filling the mounting clearance on the blind plate of the pipeline. The other feature is obvious identification with which its mounting state can be identified easily.
